Facts and figures

In 2008 there were approximately 370 million mobile subscribers in Sub-Saharan Africa. That's 4 out of 10 Africans. In 2010 it is expected that 6 out of 10 Africans will have a mobile phone. Mobile phone subscriptions levels are rising rapidly all over the world. Since 2000 the number of subscribers has almost tripled, rising from around 720 million to over 2 billion. The spread of mobile phones has been most rapid in those regions where usage was previously limited. Therefore we believe that mobile telephony is providing all the ingredients to bridge the digital divided.

Projects

Any successful communication depends on a thorough understanding of target audiences and participants. TTC researches participant information using mobile telephone data and once analyzed, combines this with other information for advocacy and behavioral change communication using a diverse set of mass-campaign channels including mobile phones, radio, and television, internet and news papers.
