Connect4Change is a consortium of Dutch development organisations and specialized ICT organisations Akvo, Cordaid, Edukans, ICCO and IICD. The mission of Connect4Change is to strengthen people and civil society organisations in the sustainable use of and lobby for ICT to achieve their development goals, in particular in economic development, health and education as these are the key sectors in the sustainable reduction of poverty. Text to Change is the preferred partner in this Consortium to implement the mobile telephony components of the ICT projects. Activities will be carried out in:

Mobile phones are the most important communications channel available next to radio in developmental countries. Text to Change aims to contribute to the mission of Connect4Change by applying its ability to use mobile telephony in pursuit of the goal of collecting and supplying information in order to strengthen people and civil society organisations in economic development, education and health. Within economic development these mobile programs will ensure that income and employment opportunities will be improved by strengthening price information systems for farmers and better access to markets via text messaging and voice-based information systems. The quality of education systems will be enhanced via its mobile phone-based information systems for teachers and managers with teacher absenteeism systems, capacity building of school management committees and parent-teacher associations and providing mobile educational material and other mobile learning systems. The effectiveness, efficiency and equity of health care systems will be improved by providing health information to patients, community health workers, NGO's and companies via the use of mobile phones.
